Strategically located at the heart of downtown Dumaguete City, this food haven is accessible to students and passersby looking for a great place to relax their mind and remedy their hunger with a tasty variety of dishes. We are lucky enough to get in contact with Chef Randy and invited us to check out the place and experience another local food adventure. And yes friends, our mission still goes on to finding local food treasures here in Dumaguete City.
Husband and Wife Randy Abatayo & Darzelyn Abatayo are co-owners of this restaurant, this is corpo-owned and was originally La Royaltea Restaurant, with the new management it is now transitioned to Locale Palette. Still in the process of completing all their renovations and giving the place a laid back, comfy and fun place to hang out. The owners are targeting to finish all the renovation by Mid May 2017 and will be hosting a Trivia Night Event to their regular customers and new ones. The loving couple are the ones managing the restaurant on a daily basis and to give you a background where they got their forte in creating mouthwatering dishes well, they have a solid foundation of exquisite cooking skills.
Chef Randy previously worked at LA MAISON BEST STEAK AND SEAFOODS CEBU AND TRINOMA GREENBELT MAKATI, SPROCKETS CAFE CEBU, LA ROYALTEA CAFE AND TEA HOUSE, CEBU WATERFRONT HOTEL AND CASINO. That covers the whole reason why their food is so Y-U-M-M-Y! And they say a couple makes the best team in everything, his wife Ma’am Darze also worked with him at those luxury hotels and restaurants but she focuses more on pastry. The two are the unbeatable duo of Locale Palette.
Well as part of the transition they are also making a lot of changes in their menu to provide the customers a whole new level of food ride. So, what we did, we asked them to prepare their best-selling dishes and desserts.
For our entrée, we have Locale Palette’s own version of Nachos & Dips.
Served with delicious smoothies. Cookies and cream for the hubby and a fun candy-ish smoothie of missy (I totally forgot the name I was too busy eating LOL).
For our main course, Chef Randy served us the Barkada Baby Back Ribs, this was originally for 3-4 pax but hey we ate it all. It was that good! The meat was very tender and well marinated, I am guessing it was cured and went through a special process to really get the flavor burst in every bite. The taste was more of a Mexican kick but still sweet, the kind of taste we pinoys love.
For dessert Ma’am Darze was already raving about her “Fried cookies topped with homemade ice cream” I was a bit skeptical at first because they look like donuts hehe but when I tasted it with the ice cream, it slapped me! It was tasty and a must try! The single serving is a lot so you can definitely share it with friends.
NOT pricey and YES, it is definitely worth every peso, with the level of cooking expertise the duo has and the amount of serving each dish is prepared you can share it to 2-3 even 4 pax. Great place for families to dine, get together with friends, chill with classmates and enjoy really good food. Plus the waiting time for serving the food is quick.
They host fun and interactive gig from time to time, most of their regulars always look forward to these events. The one they’ll be having on May 2017, will be Trivia Night and the owners are still looking for a host to stir this event. Anyone interested? Please contact them directly they are open 7 days a week.
